Writing has always been my first love, and ever since I was about 7 years old, I have dreamed of becoming an author. But I never dreamed that I would be writing a book about auto care! In the 10 years I have been working alongside my husband as co-owners of an auto repair shop, I learned more than I ever thought I wanted to know about taking care of cars as well as their owners. I began to realize that the way my husband ran our business, the way he treated customers, the vast amount of knowledge he had acquired and continues to acquire, was not the usual or the norm. I see now how many misperceptions there are about auto repair held by both men and women and how those misperceptions and misinformation are prevalent in the media, the internet and through other less informed people within the industry. I also hear women say how intimidating it can be when trying to bring their cars in for service somewhere, how unsure they are if they are being told the truth about what their car needs fixed, how they are sometimes talked down to, or not communicated with at all!
My husband has been writing a column about auto care in one of our local papers for years now, and as the editor for his articles, I learned a lot! It suddenly dawned on me that if I could take that valuable information and put it into a book that women could read and understand, it could give them the power and confidence to take control of their auto care service experience and remove the fear and intimidation! So, Fearless Auto Care: A Guide to What Women Need to Know About Their Cars was born! I’m hoping that everyone who reads this book will get to know their cars better and be able to make better decisions about their cars’ care.
I will let everyone know when the book is available and how it can be ordered. It is an 83 page pocketsize paperback, easily stored in your purse or glove compartment. It will also be in electronic format suited for all types of e-readers. I look forward to receiving feedback on the book when it is available, and will also have a web site and a Facebook page where questions will be welcomed!
